Senior Engineer, Biomedical Engineering

Job Description

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise the installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of biomedical and medical equipment.
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance according to schedules and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Evaluate new medical equipment and participate in technical assessments, acceptance testing, and commissioning.
  • Ensure all biomedical equipment complies with regulations, Medical Device Authority (MDA) guidelines, and relevant safety standards (e.g. IEC, ISO).
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, service history, calibration certificates, and spare parts.
  • Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and service contractors for repair, warranty claims, and service contracts.
  • Provide technical support and user training to healthcare professionals and clinical staff on proper equipment use.
  • Participate in incident investigations involving medical devices and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in budget planning for equipment procurement, replacement, and maintenance.
  • Support the hospital’s accreditation and audit processes (e.g., ISO 13485, MSQH, JCI) related to medical devices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in medical technology management and patient safety initiatives.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field
  • Preferably registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
  • At least 6 years of experience in the managing, maintaining and testing of medical devices or biomedical equipment
  • Strong technical skills in areas such as medical devices and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and standards, such as ISO 13485 and FDA regulations
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office skills
  • Able to work independently and in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
